Household refuse collection arrangements
Black and green bin collections alternate, except over Christmas. Farm collections in Raisdale and Bilsdale may not be on the same day as house collecions in Chop Gate.
      
Recycling
There is a mini recycling centre in the car park of the Buck Inn at Chop Gate. There are facilities for paper, magazines and flat cardboard, green glass bottles, clear glass bottles and jars, brown glass bottles, and cans, tins and foil.
There is kerbside recycling for the centre of Chop Gate village.

Library
The North Yorkshire County Council mobile library service covering Gate, Bilsdale and outlying villages ceased on September 16th.
Parishioners who are inconvenienced or who wish to volunteer to assist in running a Home Library and Information Service in this area are invited to contact the parish council, or North Yorkshire County Council at libraries@northyorks.gov.uk or telephone 01609-533800.
You may be eligible to receive the home library and information service if, because of ill health or disability, you find it difficult to visit the library or to carry books, or if you are a carer.


Bilsdale Beacon
Many local events are detailed in The Beacon, the monthly church and community newsletter that is distributed to everyone in Bilsdale. The Beacon is now available by e-mail.
News and articles for the Beacon should be sent to Carol McGee. Copy date is usually the 14th day of the month before publication.

Correspondent
The Bilsdale Correspondent for the Darlington & Stockton Times, your local reporter and photographer, is Joy Starkey.
Joy gathers and submits local news from anywhere in Bilsdale from Chop Gate and Seave Green, to Hawnby and nearby villages. She will try to cover formal events associated with the school, churches, and local clubs and societies, and parish council meetings. Parish Councillors
Parish councillors for Bilsdale Midcable Parish Council are Malcolm Bowes, David Hollingworth, Carol McGee, Sue Barker and Catherine Devlin.
The clerk is Joy Starkey.

Council Meetings
Bilsdale Midcable Parish Council meetings will be advertised on the Bridge End notice board by the post box, and normally on the Fangdale Beck, school and village hall noticeboards as well.
The next full council meeting is on Wednesday February 29th at 7.30pm at Chop Gate Village Hall.

Planning
New planning applications are available for inspection at the North York Moors National Park Authority offices in Helmsley, and on the park authority web site. The Parish Council makes its own copies available for inspection locally, by prior arrangement with the clerk.
